BLINN STUDENT WINS TOP HONORS AT NATIONAL BARROW SHOW LIVESTOCK JUDGING COMPETITION

Lerow, a sophomore from Waco, also placed third in reasons as Blinn’s livestock judging team kicked off its fall 2021 season recently at the barrow show held in Austin, Minn.

Blinn’s Fritz Anton, a sophomore from Lockhart, Texas, placed sixth overall.

As a team, Blinn placed fifth overall and third in reasons. Other team members were Maddison Brinkman, Allison Brinkman, Katherine Eastep, Kevin Jendrusch, Kelton Poe, John Reaves, Will Spicer, and Whitney Watts.

Blinn will compete in the Aksarben Livestock Show on Sept. 26 in Omaha, Neb., the Flint Hills Contest on Oct. 1 in El Dorado, Kan., the State Fair of Texas on Oct. 4, the Tulsa State Fair on Oct. 8 in Tulsa, Okla., the American Royal contest on Oct. 18 in Kansas City, Kan., the Southern Stockman contest on Nov. 6 in Lubbock, Texas, the North American International Livestock Exposition on Nov. 17 in Louisville, Ky., the Griswold Cattle Classic on Dec. 17 in Stillwater, Okla., and the Arizona Livestock Show on Dec. 31 in Phoenix, Ariz.

Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program is the largest two-year agricultural program in the state. It also has one of the most active extracurricular programs in Texas, including the Agriculture Club, Agricultural Mechanics, and livestock judging team.

The program’s livestock judging team has won more than 45 national and reserve championships, winning championships at some of the most prestigious competitions in the country.
