BRENHAM GAMECHANGERS, BRENHAM ISD HOSTING BIG EVENT SATURDAY
Brenham Middle School during the 2025 Big Event.
Brenham ISD students and community members will come together tomorrow (Saturday) for the second annual Big Event in Brenham.
The day of service will have volunteers performing beautification, improvement and community projects at school campuses and facilities. Brenham GameChangers President Dr. Heather Thielemann, speaking in August during the Community Corner on KWHI, said this year will also have projects at other locations in Brenham.
The day will kick off with opening ceremonies at 8:30 a.m. at Cub Stadium. From there, volunteers will head off to their work sites, which include Brenham Elementary School, Brenham Junior High School, Krause Elementary School, Alton Elementary School, the Early Childhood Learning Center, Cub Stadium, the Rock Gym, Faith Mission, Higgins North, the Fireman’s Park playground and skate park, the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library, the Washington County Expo, Thielemann Construction, and the Boys and Girls Club of Washington County.
The Big Event started in 1982 at Texas A&M University and has grown to become the largest one-day, student-led service project in the United States.
Volunteers should wear work clothes, but all supplies will be provided. Students will be able to earn service hours.
