INFORMATIONAL MEETING WEDNESDAY ON BURTON ISD BOND MEASURE

  

An informational meeting will be held next week for Burton residents who are interested in learning more about an upcoming bond election in Burton ISD.

BONDing Together for Kids, a political action committee, will host the meeting on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Burton High School auditorium.

During the program, the $43.8 million bond project will be discussed, and Washington County Chief Appraiser Dyann White will explain the bond as it relates to the 65 and over tax exemption and the cap on homesteads.

The bond seeks to address various academic and athletic projects such as adding and renovating classrooms, renovating fine arts facilities, upgrading the cafeteria and kitchen, creating an enclosed connection for district buildings, adding a new competition gym and stadium, and performing various site and drainage improvements.

Monday is the last day to register to vote for the bond election.
