94TH ANNUAL AUSTIN CO. FAIR BEGINS FRIDAY

  

Fair season gets underway this weekend in Austin County.

Activities for the 94th Annual Austin County Fair begin on Friday and continue through next Sunday, October 17th at the fairgrounds in Bellville.

The fun starts Friday with the barbecue cook-off, Ag Adventures and champion drive, followed on Saturday by the bucket calf show, opening of the country store, mutton bustin’, home brew judging and entertainment from Pecos and the Rooftops and Kolby Cooper.

Livestock judging opens on Saturday with market and breeding rabbits at 9 a.m.  Judging will continue on Sunday with market turkeys and broilers and will progress through the week, leading up to the youth livestock auction at noon on Friday, October 15th.

Nine candidates are vying for Austin County Fair Queen this year, and they are Kaylee Anderson, Rileigh Dinges, Emma Eckelberg, Zabrina Hood, Chesney Johnston, Makinzy Kneip, Mary Richardson, Hattie Schalla and Neelie Schiel.  The queen’s pageant will be held Saturday at 5 p.m.  That will be preceded by the Little Mister and Miss Contest at 9 a.m., which will then be followed by the Junior Mister and Miss and Junior Fair Queen Contests.

The fair parade will begin at 10 a.m. next Thursday, October 14th on the town square in Bellville, with a theme of “We are All in this Together.”

This year’s music lineup also includes the Chad Cooke Band and Mark Chestnutt on the 14th; Jon Stork and Dos Borrachos featuring Kevin Fowler and Roger Creager on Friday, October 15th; and Tyler McCollum and Aaron Watson on Saturday, October 16th.
