BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO CONSIDER UPDATING BUILDING CODES

The Brenham City Council will seek to update the city’s building codes at its meeting Thursday.

The council will hold a public hearing and potentially approve an amendment to the city’s code of ordinances to adopt the 2018 editions of International Building Code and Complimentary Building Codes.

City officials say the building codes and complimentary codes are updated in an effort to maintain a safe built community for Brenham, as well as to help with lower premiums for building insurance rates.  The city’s development services department has notified builders and licensed trades of the future updates.

Also at Thursday’s meeting, the council will:

  • Meet in executive session to consult with the city attorney regarding City of Brenham v. WTG Gas Marketing, Inc.; Cause No. 37573; 335th Judicial District Court.
  • Hear administrative reports regarding an update on the codification of ordinances by Franklin Legal Publishing and an update on a grant from the Texas General Land Office.
  • Consider a professional services agreement with Hodde & Hodde Land Surveying, Inc. to renew an easement at Lake Somerville for the lake intake structure. The 50-year easement was originally signed on April 12, 1972 and is set to expire on August 11, 2022.
  • Consider accepting a proposal for uniform rental and laundering services.
  • Hold a public hearing and possibly act upon a request from KT Auto Plus for a specific use permit to enlarge the floor area of its automobile repair shop at 1006 North Park Street. The item was approved by the Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission at its meeting September 27th.

The council will meet Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.

  1. When is the ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS job going to be posted? I see all the others have been posted that were approved in the budget except that one. Hmmm…
