The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public to be wary of scammers, following the discovery of a missing 3-year-old boy.

Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell said in a social media post Monday that his office has learned of a few scam attempts using the name of Christopher Ramirez, who returned home on Monday after having been missing since Wednesday.  He said the scammers are attempting to get people to donate to a GoFundMe account or similar fundraising methods.

Sowell said the family of Ramirez wants the public to know that it is not asking for donations.

Anyone who comes across a donation request or scam attempt is asked to report it to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office.
