NO. 17 NAVARRO SHUTS OUT BUCCANEER WOMEN’S SOCCER
Blinn closes regular season against Paris on Oct. 25
The Blinn College women’s soccer team suffered a 5-0 shutout at the hands of No. 17 Navarro in Region XIV play Wednesday in Navarro.
The Buccaneers trailed just 1-0 at the half, but a flurry of Bulldog offense led to the hosts’ decisive victory.
“It’s disappointing,” Blinn head coach Michael McBride said. “It was just a couple of individual errors, really. We did a lot of good things and the women had themselves a good platform in the second half, but it just didn’t work out.
“Hopefully, we can bounce back in the Paris game and nudge ourselves into the playoffs.”
Blinn dropped to 5-8-1 overall and 4-8-1 in the region standings. Navarro moved to 8-3-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the region.
The Buccaneers were held without a shot on goal.
Blinn goalkeepers Angel Chase and Stormey Stringer recorded four saves apiece.
The Buccaneers resume their season in a rescheduled bout against Paris (0-10, 1-12 Region XIV) at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25 at Rankin Field inside Hohlt Park in Brenham. Blinn will celebrate Sophomore Day, and the Buccaneer men’s team will play following the conclusion of the women’s match.
