BLINN WOMEN’S SOCCER BOWS OF POSTSEASON WITH LOSS TO NO. 17 NAVARRO

Blinn bows out of postseason with loss to No. 17 Navarro

Late second-half goal leads Bulldogs to victory

The Blinn College women’s soccer team ended its season with a 1-0 loss in the opening round of the Region XIV Tournament on Thursday at No. 17 Navarro.
The Buccaneers end their season 6-10-1 overall.
Nine days after a tough 5-0 region road loss to the Bulldogs, Blinn bounced back in a big way, holding Navarro scoreless until the 75th minute of play.
“Navarro really had to earn the win,” third-year Blinn head coach Michael McBride said. “I’m really proud of the team today … we were never out of the game.”
The Buccaneers totaled six shots for the game, while sophomore goalkeeper Angel Chase made six saves in goal.
Blinn earned its postseason berth on Oct. 25, defeating Paris Junior College, 3-1, in Brenham to advance. McBride said that despite Thursday’s disappointing result, a new standard has been set for the women’s program.
“I think it was a season of ups and downs where we didn’t realize the full potential that we had,” McBride explained. “But we set the standard that playoffs is the absolute minimum that should be expected here, and we feel very good about the future.”
