WCVA TO HOST VETERANS DAY PROGRAM THURSDAY AT FIREMAN’S TRAINING CENTER

Brenham ISD Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin

Citizens are invited to observe Veterans Day tomorrow (Thursday) with a special program at the Fireman’s Training Center in Brenham.

The program, hosted by the Washington County Veterans Association, will begin at 11 a.m.  All veterans will be recognized during the program, and in observance of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, all first responders will also be recognized.

The featured speaker for the program will be Brenham ISD Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin.  Dr. Chaplin, who has 25 years of experience in public education, came to Brenham from Burkburnett ISD, where he served as superintendent for five years.  He was the Burkburnett Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 2019 and a Top 5 Finalist for the TASB Texas Superintendent of the Year.  He is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Washington County.

A drive-thru or dine-in lunch of barbecue beef and pork will be served after the program.  Tickets are $15 and are available in advance only from Washington County Veterans Association members.  Tickets can also be purchased at Dan’s Meat Market, Felder’s Buy and Bye, K&M Grocery, Quick Mart and Robert’s Service Station.  All proceeds will go to Washington County veterans groups.

KWHI will carry the program live beginning at 10:45 a.m. on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com.

Before the program at the Fireman’s Training Center, James F. Dillon VFW Post 7104 will host a Veterans Day breakfast.  Doors will open at 6 a.m., and the meal will be served following a brief program.  All veterans and their guests are invited.
