BRENHAM MAN ARRESTED ON SEVEN OUTSTANDING WARRANTS
A Brenham man was arrested Thursday on seven outstanding warrants by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Otto Hanak reports that Deputies traveled to a residence located in the 6000 of Highway 105 after receiving information related to a wanted person at the residence. Prior to arrival at the residence, Deputies confirmed there were seven outstanding arrest warrants on this person. The suspect was identified as 34 year old Brenham resident Kenneth Brooks Helmer.
Patrol Sergeant Guerrero and Deputies Newsome and Salinas surrounded the residence, due to the suspect having an extensive criminal history in multiple counties and also being known to flee or evade law enforcement.
As officers announced their presence at the front door of the residence, Sergeant Guerrero heard a loud sound coming from directly behind him. Sergeant Guerrero observed Helmer propel himself through a window to evade the officer’s attempt to arrest. Sergeant Guerrero was able to apprehend Helmer and secure him in handcuffs.
Located on Helmer’s person was a substance in a clear plastic baggie that tested positive for methamphetamines. Helmer was transported to the Washington County Jail on the charges of Possession of Controlled Substance, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Previous Conviction, and the seven outstanding arrest warrants.
Helmer who has an extensive criminal history in Washington County is currently being held in the Washington County Jail on current charges and outstanding warrants with a no bond being set on several charges. His bonds total $153,000 and he remains in custody.

1) Assault family violence – Previous Conviction
2) Continuous violence against family member
3) Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon
4) Bail Jumping and Failure to Appear
5) Evading Arrest with Previous Conviction
6) Criminal Trespass
7) Theft of Service
