BUDDY RIDDLE RUNNING FOR ELECTION TO PRECINCT 4 J.P. POST

H.C. "Buddy" Riddle

An Austin County Sheriff’s investigator has announced his intent to run for the office of Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace in Washington County.

H.C. “Buddy” Riddle, a resident of Burton, is seeking election to the office currently held by William E. “Bill” Kendall, who is not seeking re-election.  Riddle will run in the March 1, 2022 primaries as a Republican.

Riddle has been in law enforcement since 1978 when he joined the Houston Police Department, where he served for over 20 years.  In 2013, he joined the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, where he is currently a criminal investigator.

Riddle says while his law enforcement career may soon be coming to an end, he still wants to serve the community.

In his career, Riddle has served as a patrol officer, K-9 officer and motorcycle officer, and has spent several years working undercover as a vice and narcotics investigator.  He has served on numerous federal task forces with multiple agencies including the FBI, DEA and United States Customs Service.  He also served for two years in Iraq, where he trained Iraqi investigators in terrorism investigations and received the United States Defense of Freedom Medal.

After retiring from the Houston Police Department, Riddle earned a degree and advanced degree in Theology with a minor in Criminal Justice at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.  He served as the counseling pastor at Metropolitan Baptist Church and was the founding pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel in northwest Houston.

Riddle believes his knowledge of law enforcement and experience working with people suits him well for this role.

All four Justice of the Peace positions in Washington County are up for election next year.  The deadline for candidates to file for March’s primary election is December 13th.
