WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS APPROVE PURCHASE OF GENERATOR, FIREWALL ROUTERS
A pair of purchases using funds from the American Rescue Plan were approved by Washington County Commissioners at their meeting today (Tuesday).
Commissioners first approved the purchase of a diesel generator for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office from Flying V Rentals. The 760kw Kohler outdoor generator is valued at $757,394.
The court then agreed to purchase three firewall routers and associated subscription services through CDWG, using a contract through Sourcewell. County Information Technology Director T.J. Harris said the routers, which total $38,950, allow more resiliency and redundancy while also providing services such as malware and email filtering.
Also at today’s meeting, commissioners:
- Approved formal notice for a road bore for a new water service line by Corix Utilities on Seward Plantation Road in Precinct 1.
- Approved a 60-day extension of 61 excess vacation hours for Justin Knuppel with EMS.
- Heard reports from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, EMS, IT and Veteran Service Officer.
