FAYETTE CO. JUDGE JOE WEBER NOT RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION

Fayette County Judge Joe Weber has announced he will not seek a second term in office.
Weber was first elected in November 2018 to succeed the retiring Ed Janecka, who served 28 years as county judge.
Weber, who will be 72 by the end of his current term, says he wants to focus on spending time with his family.
Prior to becoming county judge, Weber served 36 years as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps, retiring in 2008 at the rank of Lieutenant General. He also served as the Vice President of Student Affairs for his alma mater, Texas A&M University, and as TxDOT’s executive director.
Weber says he will stay in Fayette County, although he plans to be in Washington County a lot more to visit with his grandchildren. He also intends to do more traveling.
The deadline for candidates to file for March’s primary election is December 13th.
