BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS SAUSAGE COMPANY TUESDAY

The Burton City Council continues discussion Tuesday on Burton Sausage Company returning to the city.

During Tuesday afternoon’s meeting of the Burton City Council they will discuss and consider action on the possible rerouting of city utilities to Burton Sausage.  The company is planning to return to Burton after moving operations to Lufkin in 2020.  They are seeking to have their property, which is 18 acres located just east of Burton on Highway 290, annexed by the City and provided with city water and sewer services.  At their November meeting the Council tabled a proposal to spend a maximum of $20,000 on a study to determine the cost of providing those services to Burton Sausage.

Also on Tuesday’s agenda is discussion and possible action on conveying property at the end of East Branch Street and the road formerly known as South Colorado Street to American Kinetics Inc.  The Council will discuss selecting a service for trimming trees and brush along Navasota Street and Texas and Burton Street from Bridge to Nueces Streets.  And they will consider a request to close Live Oak Street between North Main and Railroad Street from 8 a.m. to midnight on Saturday, April 23rd for the annual Cotton Gin Festival.

The Burton City Council will meet at 5:30 Tuesday afternoon at Burton City Hall.
