KOLKHORST HONORED BY TEXAS PUBLIC EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION
Senator receives an award for her work on the ERS pension fund
The Texas Public Employees Association has honored Texas State Senator Lois Kolkhorst for her contributions during the 87th Legislative Session.
Kolkhorst was presented with an award for providing support in restoring the Employees Retirement System pension fund.
TPEA Executive Director Ann Bishop said that they are thankful to Senator Kolkhorst for ensuring that the over 10,000 essential Texas employees and retirees of her district and of the entire state maintain their pensions.
The TPEA is the largest nonunion, nonpartisan association for active and retired Texas state employees. It was instrumental in the creation of the ERS pension fund and health insurance for state employees and retirees.
Most recently, the association lobbied for additional money to address an almost $15 billion debt and move the ERS pension toward soundness.
