The son of a Brenham Cub Football Hall of Honor member signed a National Letter of Intent yesterday (Wednesday).

Austin Firestone, who started on both the offensive and defensive lines for his high school in Niceville, Florida, is going to Northwestern University. Firestone chose Northwestern over Virginia and Vanderbilt.

The 6'5" 260 pounder is expected to play on the defensive line for the Wildcats. According to Sports Illustrated.com, Northwestern needed to replenish their defensive after losing four players to graduation and one to the transfer portal.

Firestone is the son of Frank and Tosha Firestone. His father, Frank, was an All District Offensive Lineman for the Brenham Cubs, and also played college football with the 1996 Blinn Buccaneer National Championship Team, and Southern Mississippi. He was inducted into the Cub Football Hall of Honor in 2015.
