A U.S. Army veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan has thrown his name into the ring to become the new representative of House District 12.

Joshua Hamm, who served overseas for eight years, will be on the Republican ballot in the March 1st primary.  Through redistricting, House District 12 will represent Grimes, Madison, Robertson, Walker and Washington counties, as well as the rural areas of Brazos County.

Hamm, who grew up in Hearne and now lives with his family in Bryan, says service, humility and communication are all qualities he values.

After receiving an honorable discharge, Hamm worked as a mechanic, oilfield technician, construction worker, tow-truck operator and commercial truck driver.  He advocates for conservative policies at the local, state and national level as a member of the Brazos County Republican Party.

Hamm seeks to build the wall along the southern border, abolish property taxes and strengthen the personal liberties of Texans.

Hamm will be one of three candidates in the primary, joining incumbent Kyle Kacal and challenger Ben Bius.
