CUB BASKETBALL FALLS TO BASTROP 64-57
Late comeback falls just short

The Brenham Cub Basketball Team lost to the Bastrop Bears 64-57 in their last game before the Christmas break.
It was a close first half with Bastrop only leading by one point, 11-10, after the first quarter. Bastrop also outscored the Cubs 20-17 in the second quarter to take a 31-27 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Bastrop opened up their lead by winning the third quarter 18-10 to take a 49-37 lead going into the final quarter. Brenham didn't quit though, and made a game of it by winning the fourth quarter 20-15.
Brandon Ward led Brenham with 23 points. Jamey Rogers had eight points. Josiah Ferguson, Deontae Franklin, and Delvin Gantt had six points each.
The Cubs are off until Monday when they travel to Corpus Christi to take part in the West Oso Tournament. They will resume district play on New Year's Eve at College Station High School.
