PURSUIT THROUGH FAYETTE, COLORADO COUNTIES ENDS IN FATAL CRASH

A La Grange man was killed after a multi-county police pursuit Sunday.

La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath said the pursuit began after officers attempted to stop 32-year-old Tyler Pleasant on Hanacek Lane to serve felony warrants for check forgery and credit card abuse.

Gilbreath said Pleasant fled from the officers, driving east on Highway 71 at speeds of up to 100 mph.  A Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy tried to deploy spikes on Pleasant’s pickup truck west of Ellinger, but the attempt failed.

Pleasant led authorities through Ellinger and across the Colorado County line, when his vehicle drove off the road near the FreBo Ranch.  Gilbreath said Pleasant’s truck hit a guardrail and rolled over several times before catching fire on the side of the road.

Pleasant was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
