VANDALISM ISSUES CONTINUE IN AUSTIN COUNTY
Road signs in Austin County continue to be vandalized and stolen.
City officials say the total damage is around $2,000 over the past few weeks. Commissioners are asking residents to stop stealing and damaging the road signs. They say each sign cost around $200 and the money is coming directly from taxpayers through property tax payments.
The commissioners also pointed out that the vandalism is widespread and not just the signs. There is also damage to poles resulting in more cost to repair the areas.
