SUSPECT KILLED IN DEPUTY-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN AUSTIN CO.

A suspect was killed after a deputy-involved shooting Tuesday night in Austin County.

According to the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 10:45 p.m. to a disturbance in the 300 block of Pecan Grove Road, east of Sealy in the Brazos Country community.

Once on scene, deputies encountered an armed suspect who they say fired at least one round at them.  In response, deputies returned fire, fatally wounding the suspect.

The Texas Rangers are assisting with the investigation at the request of the sheriff’s office and the Austin County District Attorney’s Office.

When asked if the deputies involved with the shooting have been placed on leave pending the investigation, both DPS and the sheriff’s office directed KWHI to the district attorney’s office.  KWHI has reached out to the district attorney’s office and is awaiting a response.

No further information has been released at this time.
