Very mild weather is expected to round out 2021, but conditions will change quickly—and drastically—to start off the new year.

The National Weather Service says a cold front will make its way through the area tomorrow (Saturday) evening, dropping temperatures from the high 70s or low 80s in the afternoon to around 30 degrees overnight.  Strong winds will bring feels-like temperatures down into the 20s and possibly the teens early Sunday.

A freeze watch goes into effect tomorrow night and continues until Sunday morning for Washington County and many of the surrounding counties.  The cold front is not expected to bring much precipitation.

Residents should make outdoor preparations ahead of the cold front, including covering outdoor faucets and pipes and bringing in pets and sensitive plants.

The cold will stick around through Sunday night into Monday, but temperatures will begin to warm back up into the high 60s beginning on Tuesday.  However, another front is expected to roll in on Thursday, dropping temperatures down to around freezing again.
