BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO CONSIDER SUPERINTENDENT EVALUATION, ELECTION ITEMS

The Burton School Board will take up the evaluation of Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy at its meeting Tuesday.

The board will discuss Dr. Kennedy’s evaluation, contract and salary in executive session.

Last January, the board voted to extend Dr. Kennedy’s contract by one year through June 30, 2024.

Dr. Kennedy joined Burton ISD in February 2015 after the retirement of former superintendent James Palmer.

In other items Tuesday, the board is expected to approve a joint election contract with the City of Burton.  It will then consider an order for the May 7th school board election for the positions held by Demetrius Colvin, Sr. and Jeff Harmel.  Trustees will then look to appoint election officials.

The board will also consider an order authorizing the issuance, sale and delivery of Burton ISD unlimited tax school building bonds and other items related to the payment of the bond.  It will also receive an update on the bond project from Reliance Architecture and DSA, and will also review and discuss the Texas Education Agency’s COVID-19 updates.

The board will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Burton High School auditorium.
