IOLA ISD, ANDERSON-SHIRO CISD CLOSING THROUGH FRIDAY DUE TO COVID-19
Two Grimes County schools are shutting down for the rest of the week due to COVID-19.
Iola ISD is closing through Friday, with school officials saying there are over 160 students and staff members who are out due to either testing positive or being exposed to a positive case.
The district says no remote learning will be required during this closure. All athletic events will be cancelled or rescheduled.
Regular school hours are planned to resume on Monday.
Families are asked to continue using the After Hours Presumptive/Positive COVID-19 reporting form on the district’s website, www.iolaisd.net.
Meanwhile, Anderson-Shiro CISD will also close for the remainder of the week.
Superintendent Scott Beene said in a notice to families that the district will not need to make up the three missed days of instruction, and it will not offer remote instruction.
All before or after school practices will be cancelled. Final decisions on varsity basketball games will be provided by coaching staff.
Classes will resume on Monday.
