OVER 250 FAMILIES EVACUATED AS ROLLING PINES FIRE BURNS IN BASTROP CO.

Over 250 families have been evacuated as firefighters in Bastrop County continue to battle the Rolling Pines Fire.
According to the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management, the fire at Bastrop State Park is estimated to have burned over 780 acres and is 30 percent contained.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said a 150-acre prescribed fire Tuesday at the park “spread beyond the intended fire boundaries.”
Emergency management officials say high overnight humidity recoveries and low winds today (Wednesday) will allow firefighters to continue operations, but a wind shift from the north is expected in the late afternoon.
Highway 21 and all areas currently under evacuation remain closed.

So much for well trained people. Anybody knows don’t burn anything in the winter especially after a really hard freeze Going to be lots of laws suits coming. Amd the people In charge should be charged. Hope there won’t be anybody dead from this. Then it will get interesting for sure
Prescribed fire? Who in their right minds would deliberately start a fire this time of year? Never mind not planning for enough well trained containment crews and equipment. This is a state dept., managed by the state, so maybe that is enough of an explanation. Any insurance companies or homeowners which incur losses should sue.
