All evacuations caused by the Rolling Pines Fire in Bastrop County have been lifted.

The Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management said late Wednesday that firefighters have contained 58 percent of the fire, which has burned approximately 783 acres.  According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the blaze started on Tuesday as a 150-acre prescribed fire at Bastrop State Park that “spread beyond the intended fire boundaries.”

Emergency management officials report no injuries or damage to residential structures.

All evacuees have been allowed to return home and Highway 21 has been reopened, but travelers are asked to remain cautious while driving through areas with emergency personnel still working.

Crews remained on-site throughout the evening patrolling and improving containment lines in preparation for the cold front and wind shift.

  1. I understand the intentions of a prescribed burn but Texas Parks & Wildlife has no idea of the trauma, panic and anxiety this has caused people who rebuilt or were fortunate enough to not have their house burn years ago. This was irresponsible not to fully know the weather conditions for that day or to not have enough trained personnel to control it. God bless the residents of Bastrop and keep them safe.
