TEXAS BLACKSMITHING CONFERENCE & ANTIQUE GAS ENGINE REUNION FRIDAY, SATURDAY IN LA GRANGE

Blacksmithing and antique gas engines are coming to La Grange this weekend.

The Texas Blacksmithing Conference and Antique Gas Engine Reunion will take place tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center (TCHCC).

Last year marked the first time these events were held at the TCHCC.  Mark Hermes, manager of the facility, says they have already become quite popular.

This year’s activities get underway tomorrow at noon and Saturday at 9 a.m.  Guests can look forward to blacksmithing demonstrations, a showcase of gas, oil, steam and hot air engines, tours of the village grounds and vendors.

Live heritage music will be performed Saturday by Celtaire from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  There will also be a live auction featuring blacksmithing tools and other homemade pieces at 1 p.m., followed by entertainment from The Harfmann’s from 2 to 5 p.m.

Proceeds from the event benefit the construction of the TCHCC Blacksmith Shop.
