Texas State Senator Lois Kolkhorst is making a special appearance at Monday’s meeting of the Burton ISD Board of Trustees.

Kolkhorst will be presenting a proclamation to the Burton FFA and 4-H Livestock Judging Team. The team recently won Reserve National Champion after placing second at the 94th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Burton ISD Board of Trustees meet Monday at 6pm in the Burton High School Auditorium.

For a portion of the meeting, the Board is also going into executive session to discuss the contracts of Athletic Director Jason Hodde, High School Principal Matthew Wamble, and Elementary School Principal Melinda Fuchs.

Other items on the agenda include the establishment of a Community/Parent Bond Committee. According to Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy, this would be an advisory committee to serve alongside school staff to help make recommendations during the building process.

The board will also discuss the proposed calendar for the 2022-2023 school year, playground improvements, and hear a report on the District and Campus 2020-2021 Texas Academic Performance Reports.
