BRENHAM CUBS GET 7-4 OPENING NIGHT WIN OVER HUTTO

BRENHAM CUBS 7 HUTTO HIPPOS 4
The Brenham Cub Baseball Team got the 2022 season off to a good note last (Monday) night with a victory over Hutto.
The Hippos scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning to take the early 2-0 lead.
Lane Sparks and Mason Lampe each drew a walk to start off the bottom half of the first inning for Brenham. During a stolen base attempt by Sparks, Hutto catcher Ayden Alvarez airmailed the throw to third base allowing both Sparks and Lampe to score and tie the game 2-2.
Hutto took advantage of a couple of Cub errors to add runs in the fourth and fifth inning, which gave them a 4-2 lead.
Brenham came back to score four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Rylan Wooten beat out an infield hit. Lane Sparks also reached on a single. Mason Lampe singled in Wooten, and Sparks scored on an error. Jezierski then singled in Lampe, and Jacob Mabie singled in Jezierski to make it 6-4.
The Cubs added one more run in the sixth inning. Sparks walked, and later came around to score on Jezierski's second RBI single of the night.
Blane Bolcerek came on in relief of Jezierski and pitched the final two innings including striking out three of the last four batters to secure the win.
Next up, Brenham will travel to the Liberty Hill Tournament Thursday-Saturday.
