OVER 7 POUNDS OF RAW FENTANYL CONFISCATED IN FAYETTE CO.
A traffic stop along I-10 near Flatonia Monday morning resulted in Fayette County’s Narcotics K-9 Unit discovering over 7 pounds of raw fentanyl inside a suitcase.
At around 11:15 a.m., Sergeant Randy Thumann and K-9 Kolt stopped an eastbound Chevy Equinox at the 658 mile marker for a traffic violation.
According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Thumann observed several criminal indicators upon speaking with the driver and passenger.
After receiving consent to search the vehicle, Sgt. Thumann and Kolt located the fentanyl in a suitcase which the sheriff’s office says was altered to conceal the narcotics. The fentanyl weighed approximately 7.2 pounds and has an estimated street value of $637,000.

45-year-old Jose Guadalupe Ramos of Mission was arrested for Felony Drug Possession and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center. The sheriff’s office said further charges may be filed.
