PRECINCT 2 COMMISSIONER CANDIDATE PROFILE: CANDICE BULLOCK

  

Heading into the final stretch of early voting for the March primary election, KWHI is speaking with each of the seven candidates in Washington County’s three contested races.

Our series concludes with the candidates for Washington County Commissioner of Precinct 2, starting with incumbent Candice Bullock, who began serving on the commissioners court in 2019.  Bullock, formerly a senior project manager for Hi-Line Industries in Brenham, is running on the Republican ticket against challenger Mark Schonefeld.  Neither candidate will be opposed during the general election in November.

Bullock said the experiences through the past three years in office have challenged her, but she says her detail-oriented nature and willingness to learn have helped her and other serving commissioners meet community needs.

 

Bullock said increasing pay to help attract and retain new employees, particularly in the county’s public safety departments, has been a focus during her time as commissioner, as has implementing new technology to help employees perform their jobs in a more timely manner.

Bullock seeks to continue working toward upgrading Chappell Hill’s water system and water tower.  As TxDOT performs a study for potential safety enhancements along Highway 290 in her precinct, Bullock said improvements are needed at more than just the intersection of Highway 290 and FM 1155.

 

Bullock said she has taken criticisms of not communicating well with constituents to heart and, if re-elected, will work harder to keep residents informed.

 

Early voting wraps up on Friday.  Election Day is Tuesday.
