PRECINCT 2 COMMISSIONER CANDIDATE PROFILE: MARK SCHONEFELD

  

With early voting for the March primary election soon drawing to a close, KWHI is talking with the candidates from Washington County’s three contested races on the ballot.

Our final candidate is Mark Schonefeld, who is challenging Republican incumbent Candice Bullock for the seat of Precinct 2 County Commissioner.  Schonefeld is the owner and operator of Schonefeld Farms in Chappell Hill.  The winner between Schonefeld and Bullock will be unopposed in November’s general election.

Schonefeld said his career in agriculture translates well into all phases of county government.

 

Prior to beginning farming in Washington County in 1997, Schonefeld worked as a project manager at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo.  His community involvement includes serving for eight years as the president of the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department and supporting local youth in 4-H and FFA at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Priorities of Schonefeld include preparing the area for economic growth and supporting avenues for secondary education, as well as improving infrastructure and public safety.

 

Above all, Schonefeld said transparency from elected officials and communication between them and the public are paramount to a community’s success.

 

Tomorrow (Friday) is the last day of early voting.  Election Day is Tuesday.
