BLINN WOMEN LOSE TO TRINITY VALLEY 79-71, NOW IN A THREE WAY TIE
The 17th-ranked Blinn College women’s basketball team fell just short in a 79-71 Region XIV road loss to No. 11 Trinity Valley Community College on Friday in Athens, Texas.
The Buccaneers are now 24-4 overall and 13-4 in conference play, moving into a second-place tie with the Cardinals (22-5, 13-4).
“It was a tough road game,” Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said of the Buccaneers’ loss to Trinity Valley. “Our kids played hard, but we just had too many turnovers and gave them too many second shots. The good thing is that we get to lace up our shoes and play again tomorrow.”
The Cardinals led 23-16 after the first quarter, 44-35 at the half, and 62-58 going into the fourth quarter.
Freshman guard Jakoriah Long paced Blinn with 15 points, while fellow freshman guard Hannah Humphrey added 14. Sophomore wing Deja Adrian and freshman guard Tiffany Tullis pitched in with 10 points apiece.
Blinn finishes its regular season with a key home matchup against region-leader and No. 13 Tyler Junior College (23-6, 13-4) at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kruse Center in Brenham. The region champion will be decided Saturday, as the Buccaneers and Apaches will do battle while Trinity Valley travels to face Coastal Bend College.
