ST. PETER’S TO PRESENT PROGRAM ON MUSIC OF EARLY TEXAS

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brenham is hosting a program about the music of early Texas.

The program, sponsored by the Independence Historical Society, will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday in the church sanctuary at St. Peter’s, located at 2310 Airline Drive.

The choir of St. Peter’s and their director, Dr. Joanne Clark, will present the program.  It will also feature Dr. Wendy Bergin playing the flute and piccolo, and Brenda Haverly as soprano.

Included will be familiar hymns, cowboy songs, Civil War tunes and Texas songs popular from the 1820s to the 1870s.  At the end, there will be a sing-a-long with everyone participating.

The concert is free and open to the public.
