DPS INCREASING PATROLS FOR SPRING BREAK
To help ensure a safe spring break, the Texas Department of Public Safety will be increasing their presence on the roads.
Operation C.A.R.E., which stands for Crash Awareness and Reduction Effort, starts today and will run through Sunday, March 20.
DPS troopers will be looking for people who are violating traffic laws.
Last year, the DPS issued more than 73,700 citations and warnings across the state for various violations.
This included over 7,000 speeding violations, over 900 citations for seat belt or child safety seat violations, and 500 Move Over, Slow Down citations and warnings.
They also made 512 felony arrests, 417 DWI arrests, and 235 fugitive arrests.
To have a safe spring, they offer the following tips:
Don’t Drink and Drive
Move over or slow down for Police, Fire, EMS, and other emergency vehicles.
Slow Down
Buckle Up
Eliminate distractions
Don’t drive while fatigued
Monitor weather conditions
