Navasota residents can soon expect some traffic delays as the Texas Department of Transportation gets ready to begin a new project.

Beginning on Monday, March 28, TxDOT is planning to construct a pedestrian crosswalk and median turn lane along Highway 105 (East Washington Avenue from La Salle to South Railroad Street).

Two phases are planned to complete the crosswalk project which will affect  Navasota’s central downtown district.

The first phase, the constructing of a median turn lane, will affect East Washington Avenue from the intersection of La Salle to Farquhar Street.

The second phase, constructing the crosswalk, will affect specifically the Farquhar Street intersection across to Blues Alley near the Classic Rock Café.

TxDOT’s construction team plans to close street parking nightly on East Washington Avenue from La Salle to South Railroad Street on Sunday through Friday each week until completion.

Their work hours will be from 7pm to 7am.

Depending on weather, field conditions, and work progress, the project is expected to take approximately 8 to 12 weeks to complete.
