WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS RECOGNIZE ELECTION WORKERS

Washington County Commissioners took time at their meeting today (Tuesday) to acknowledge all of the people who volunteered to work during the March 1 primary election.
Elections Administrator Carol Jackson recognized the local Republican and Democratic Party chairs, polling judges, clerks, tabulators, and all others who assisted with running the election, both during early voting at the Washington County Courthouse Annex and on Election Day at the county’s 14 polling locations.
Jackson said Washington County is blessed to have these volunteers on their team.
The court thanked the volunteers for taking the time to serve and for their hard work and dedication.
Also at today’s meeting, commissioners:
- Tabled a lease between the Washington County Fair Association and the Washington County Expo for the use of Expo facilities during the Washington County Fair. County Attorney Renee Mueller said her office needed more time to fully review the document.
- Rescinded the purchase of a 760kw diesel generator for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office through the American Rescue Plan Act from Flying V Rentals for $757,394, originally approved on November 16, 2021. County Judge John Durrenberger said when the county first went out for bid for the generator, it did not know all of the rules and steps in order to qualify for American Rescue Plan Act funding. He said the county will re-bid using those steps and going through GrantWorks.
- Approved a revised position description for the Washington County Jail Chief Deputy. Human Resources Director Teresa Sazedj said the revisions include adjustments to qualifications, pay grade and title.
- Approved a 60-day extension of 96.5 excess vacation hours for Clifton Bellard with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
- Approved a formal notice for a utility installation from Corix Utilities, Inc. for a two-inch road bore to provide a new water service line at 9905 Mayfair Lane in Precinct 3.
- Approved a bond for Washington County Engineer Wesley Stolz.
- Heard monthly reports from the sheriff’s office, EMS, Information Technology and the Veterans Service Officer.
