LONGTIME BRENHAM FIREFIGHTER RONALD BENTKE RETIRING

  
Longtime firefighter Ronald Bentke (right) is retiring from the Brenham Fire Department. He was formally recognized on Thursday by Brenham Mayor Milton Tate (left) and the Brenham City Council.

A distinguished member of the Brenham Fire Department is calling it a career.

Ronald Bentke is retiring from the fire department after joining in 1992.  Bentke is a three-time recipient of the department’s Firefighter of the Year Award, in 2000, 2010 and 2020.  He also finished as the runner-up for the Texas State Firefighters and Fire Marshals Association’s Firefighter of the Year Award in 2012.

Bentke was formally recognized at Thursday’s Brenham City Council meeting.  Brenham Fire Chief Roger Williams said the department is grateful for Bentke’s years of selfless service.

 

 

Bentke is retiring as Assistant Chief of the department, and also served as District Chief.  In addition, he oversaw maintenance at the Fireman’s Training Center and Fire Museum, and played an active role in all department fundraisers.

Bentke said he is thankful for all of the support he has received throughout his time in the fire department from his family, friends and fellow firefighters.
