ALARM MALFUNCTION TRIGGERS LOCKDOWN AT BRENHAM JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Students and staff members at Brenham Junior High School went into a brief lockdown this (Wednesday) afternoon after an active shooter alarm that was determined to be in error.

The Brenham Police Department said the school’s intercom system made an announcement of an active shooter alert at the campus.

Community Resource Officer Sierra Randle said the campus went into lockdown shortly after 1:50 p.m. and remained in lockdown until around 2:20 p.m., when students and staff were released back to their normal schedule.

Brenham ISD said a malfunction in the system triggered the lockdown alarm.  The district is currently looking into what caused the false alert.
