CUBETTES BEAT DISTRICT FRONT-RUNNER MAGNOLIA 8-0

Kenley Mikolajchak

The Brenham Cubettes shocked District 19-5A with an 8-0 victory over first place Magnolia last (Tuesday) night at Alumni Field.

Starting pitcher Della Jasinski hit the first batter of the game, Magnolia's Krystal Anne Castaneda, with a pitch. Angelina Postel sacrificed her over to second base. The next batter, Jade Bubke, lined out to Sarah Mabie, who then stepped on second base for the inning ending double play.

In the bottom of the first inning, Avery Maurer drew a lead-off walk. Three wild pitches by Magnolia starting pitcher Leah Hammack, and Maurer scored to make it 1-0 Cubettes. Kaylyn Rodriguez followed two batters later with a triple.  She would then score on an RBI double by Kenley Mikolajchak to increase the lead to 2-0.  Pinch-runner Kinley Antkowiak later scored on another wild pitch to give Brenham a 3-0 cushion.

Halle Scheel

The Cubettes added another run in the second inning. Maurer singled and then stole second base. She would then score on an RBI double by Halle Scheel. This gave Brenham a 4-0 lead after two innings.

In the third inning, the Cubettes got two more runs on an RBI triple by Annie Beckendorf, and an RBI double by Sarah Mabie. Those runs gave Brenham a 6-0 lead. This lead to the Magnolia coach having to pull Hammack from a game for the first time this season.

The Cubettes got two more runs in the fifth inning, Cortney Ragnes and Beckendorf had back-to-back singles to lead it off. Kaylie Rodriguez reached on an error allowing one run to score. Mabie then singled home Beckendorf with another run to push the scoring up to 8-0 Brenham.

Della Jasinski

Meanwhile, Jasinski just dominated in the circle.  After pitching a perfect game this past Saturday, she took a no-hitter into the fifth inning of this game before Magnolia's Makayla Albert hit a bloop single.

Jasinski struck out 15 batters as well, including one stretch where she struck out nine in a row.
