BURTON’S ELI SAUNDERS FINISHES 7TH AT THE STATE POWERLIFTING MEET

The High School Powerlifting Season came to an end with another impressive showing from Burton's Eli Saunders.
Saunders finished seventh in the Division Four 114 Pound Division at the State Meet, which was held this past Friday in Abilene.
Saunders had a combined lift of 835 pounds. He squatted 325 pounds, bench pressed 190 pounds, and had a 345 pound dead lift.
Other area participants at the State Powerlifting Meet:
DIVISION 4
Somerville's Herschel Conway finished fifth in the 121 pound weight class, and Verkobe Woodberry was second in the 132 pound weight class.
DIVISION 1
From College Station High School, Tommy Hession was second in the 123 pound weight class, and Ethan Hall was 10th in the 181 pound weight class.
From A&M Consolidated High School, Brock Slaydon was 5th in the 198 pound weight class, David May was 7th in the 220 pound class, and Joseph Lightfoot was 4th in the 308 pound weight class.
From Bryan Rudder, Jason Batiste was 8th in the 308 pound weight class.
DIVISION 2
Jeremiah Metzger from Sealy High School was 7th in the 148 pound weight class.
From Giddings High School, Hector Granados was 8th in the 181 pound weight class, and Easton Kyleberg was 10th.
DIVISION 3
Jarvis Haynes, from Anderson-Shiro High School, was tenth in the 181 pound weight class.
Garrett Tittle, of Caldwell High School, was 5th in the Super Heavyweight division.
