BRENHAM CUBETTES DEFEAT WALLER 2-1 AT ALUMNI FIELD
The Brenham Cubette Softball Team defeated the Waller Lady Bulldogs 2-1 last (Tuesday) night at Alumni Field.
It was quite the pitching duel between Brenham's Della Jasinski and Waller's Lacy Foster.
In the third inning, Jasinski drew a leadoff walk. Nevaeh Holmes courtesy ran for her. Two batters later, Halle Scheel brought Holmes in with opposite field double, and Brenham took an early 1-0 lead.
The second run for the Cubettes came in the fourth inning. Kaylyn Rodriguez reached on a fielder's choice. The next batter, her sister Kaylie Rodriguez, singled and Waller misplayed the ball in the field. This allowed Kaylyn to come all the way around and score what would turn out to be the deciding run.
Waller's only run of the game came on a solo home run by Hadlee Tomczak in the top of the fifth inning.
Jasinski pitched all seven innings for Brenham to get the win. She allowed just the one run on four hits, four walks (two were intentional), and struck out six.
Next up, the Cubettes will travel to A&M Consolidated on Friday night for a 6:30pm game.
