DAIRY QUEEN ON MARKET STREET IN BRENHAM CLOSES

Dairy Queen has permanently closed its restaurant on South Market Street in Brenham.
The location is one of two in Brenham that are operated by Smith Dairy Queens, LTD. Smith Dairy Queens Owner Karen Smith explained that this particular location was one of the fast food restaurant chain’s “lower-volume stores.”
Smith added that, like many other restaurants and businesses, it has struggled to find employees.
Smith stated that Dairy Queen’s other location in Brenham on Highway 290 West remains open for business. Employees from the Market Street location will move over to the restaurant on Highway 290.

This was my job for months n I remember days I went in on my days off cause it was fun wrkn in there n meetn new ppl everyday they had plenty of workers but they didn’t cherish them they pick the wrong ppl to run it everytime…
Sad it closed. This was around the corner from my home. When I needed a quick meal it was my go to. If I have to drive accross town it will not be to Dairy Queen.
I think it would be great if we can get more variety of restaurants too. I love the idea of a Pakistani or middle east restaurant here. Samosas, biryani, mandi, iftar and suhoor meals in Brenham would be amazing!
Shame the Market Street location is closed which means won’t be eating at Dairy Queen in Brenham any longer. Market Street location was the “Brenham” location where locals would go to get quick reasonable meal. 290 location is too congested and full of out of towners.
That was the best one! The staff were always very nice and funny. They at least knew what went on a jalito burger… the one on 290 always adds onions and tomatoes (I used to work at a DQ)
I remember when my daughter was younger you could go in enjoy a quick treat. Very sad. will be missed.
Sad, that was my first job in High school. I prefer it over the 290 location any day
Very sad to see this close down. It was a very convenient location with fast service for the lunchtime crowd. Pre -pandemic, is was always crowded. The demise came when the inside dining room was rarely open. People don’t want to eat in their car. The options, of any type of restaurant in Brenham, have fallen to an alarming “LOW” ! The city needs to entice new food establishments to locate here.
This was the best Dairy Queen in town. Should have shut the 290 location down instead of you needed to shut one down.
I agree with James. It was much better than 290.
I agree with you, James. I much preferred the Market St. location over 290. I agree with Babs as well. I wish we had a Cracker Barrel.
Not only does Brenham need other food establishments to come in, we need another grocery store bad. Wake up City of Brenham please don’t let our town turn into a trash little town, which, it is getting awfully close to being.
