JEZIERSKI’S NO-HITTER LEADS CUBS TO A 7-0 WIN OVER RUDDER

BRENHAM CUBS 7 BRYAN RUDDER 0
After a tough night against Jordan on Friday night, the Brenham Cubs needed a pick-me-up on Saturday afternoon, and did they ever get one.
Ethan Jezierski pitched a complete game, seven inning no-hitter. He just missed a perfect game. Jezierski hit one batter in the fourth inning, and he was erased on a caught stealing, so he still faced the minimum 21 batters.
Lane Sparks had a one-out double in the first inning to get the Cubs started. Mason Lampe hit a grounder to third, and the third baseman airmailed the throw to first, allowing Sparks to come all the way around and scored the first run of the game to make it 1-0 Cubs.
Brenham would then score again in the third inning after a pair of Rudder errors in the third to make it 2-0 for the Cubs.
In the fourth inning, Gunner Gee reached base on another Rudder error. Jacob Mabie was hit by a pitch, and Sparks singled to load the bases. Mason Lampe came through with an RBI single to put Brenham in front 3-0. Jezierski hit into a fielder's choice that brought in another run to make it 4-0 Cubs.
Brenham would then get three more runs in the seventh inning to put an exclamation point on the game. Cade Warmke had an RBI single and Hayden Hupe had a two-run single to put the Cubs up 7-0 to give Head Coach Chase Wheaton a victory on his birthday.
The Cubs will enjoy the bye-week this week. They return to action against College Station on Tuesday, April 19, at Fireman's Park at 7pm.
