BURTON SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES TEACHER CONTRACTS
Teachers at Burton Schools will have a job waiting for them next school year if they accept it. The Burton School Board approved renewing all Elementary and Secondary Teacher contracts by one year at their meeting Monday evening.
In other action, the board approved the New Comprehensive Coverage Program Proposal for 2022-23 as well as the Instructional Materials Allotment for the same period.
A lot of the Superintendents Report was about the design work that is going on for the bond issuance. Antonio Naylor, President of Reliance Architecture, said his firm is busy with the design work, and is confident that the bids will come in at values that are expected. He said the site work will begin in late August, with construction in the classrooms beginning over the Christmas Holidays and continuing through the spring and summer months. The Superintendent, Dr. Edna Kennedy, also said this year’s commencement ceremony will be on the football field, not the gymnasium, as it was last year due to inclement weather. Graduation at Burton High School is set for Friday, May 20th.
