HEAD START PROGRAM RETURNING TO GIDDINGS

The Head Start Program is going to be making a long-awaited return to Giddings with a new temporary facility.

Head Start had been located at East Industry Street, but their previous building was shut down in October of 2021 due to unsafe conditions.

A temporary facility has been constructed on property located along Highway 77 just south of Buffalo Stadium.  It consists of portable buildings and a covered playground.

The facility is expected to open sometime within the next two weeks. They are currently waiting on an inspection.

Head Start is expected to be in this facility for approximately two years until their new permanent facility is built.

The Head Start Program promotes school readiness to infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers from low-income families.  They also serve children with special needs and disabilities.
