PARKS AND REC BOARD APPROVES REQUEST FOR $1.5 MILLION FROM BCDC
The Brenham Parks and Recreation Advisory Board approved the city requesting from the BCDC $1.5 million for their various projects for the 2022-23 fiscal year. The board voted to request the funding from the Brenham Community Development Corporation (BCDC) at their noon meeting Wednesday. The board is normally allocated $1.2 million, but will be requesting $1.5 million this year due to the size of the projects. The projects included in the request include refurbishing the men’s and women’s locker rooms at the Blue Bell Aquatic Center, phase 1 of the all-inclusive playground at the new Brenham Family Park, refurbish and paint the 3 iron bridges at the local parks, and artificial turf for the four softball fields at Hohlt Park. The BCDC board will decide in June about the funding for Brenham Parks.
In other action, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board heard staff updates from the city staff on the Blue Bell Aquatic Center, Recreation, Administration, and Parks Maintenance. They then went into training on Brenham’s Policies and Procedures for the Board.
