FARMERS LUMBER TO ACQUIRE ROUND TOP MERCENTILE

Two Fayette County businesses are set to join forces and they are hoping to bring new benefits to their customers.

Farmers Lumber Company in La Grange is set to acquire Round Top Mercantile.

Round Top Mercantile has been owned and operated by the Sacks family since the 1980s. Michael and Jackie Sacks will be staying on to help manage the day-to-day operations.

Farmers Lumber Company has been around for 115 years. Their parent organization, FLC Holdings LLC, and their board of directors will oversee both businesses.

The biggest change at Round Top Mercantile is that they will be building a 7,000 square foot lumber yard behind the store.

Customers will be able to pay for their lumber inside and load it behind the store.

Farmers Lumber is also going to be able to offer more products to their customers, including the Stihl line.

The merger is scheduled to be finalized on Tuesday, April 26.

  1. I used to play my squeezebox there – in the beginning, they had a couple of tables/chairs set up for the local beer drinkers, like ol’ cousin Weyland Hinze; many other local Round Toppers, who have gone to that big ol’ “Biergarten in the Sky” – RT MERC – “You’ve Come A Long Ways Baby”!
