Wednesday marked the first day of school in Washington County, and local churches helped welcome children back to the classroom.

Members of the Washington County Ministerial Association came out to each Brenham ISD and Burton ISD campus for “Pastors, Pencils and Prayer”. 

Pastors and members of Brenham’s First Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Chappell Hill, Brenham Presbyterian Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Brenham Church of Christ, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Life Church of God and Bethany Church participated, as well as Faith Mission.

Burton ISD began its new school year on Wednesday, joined by the Washington County Sheriff's Office and Washington County Ministerial Association.
