COLORADO CO. JP SUSPENDED AFTER INDICTMENT
The State Commission on Judicial Conduct has handed down an order of suspension to a judge serving as justice of the peace in Colorado County.
The commission’s suspension of Judge Donald Joseph Clark from the office of Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace follows his indictment in June on three charges, including Official Oppression, False Report to a Peace Officer and False Report to Induce an Emergency Response.
The indictment alleges that Clark made false statements to law enforcement and a false report of an emergency to 911 that led to a man’s arrest.
According to the Colorado County Citizen, the case was investigated by the Texas Rangers and will be prosecuted by the Texas Attorney General’s Office. A hearing is planned in August.
Per the commission’s order, Clark is being suspended with pay. The suspension will remain in effect until the charges are dismissed, Clark is acquitted, or upon further order of the commission.
